Forming in the Summer of 1997, Psydoll consisted of vocalist Nekoi and guitarist Ucchi. Nekoi's involvement in the Manga industry plus the duo's shared love for Japanese animation and SF films provided the inspiration for their sound and soon they are making demos.

In January 1998 they make the transition to a live band, performing extensively in Tokyo's venues.

Digital percussionist Loveless joins in the Summer of 1999, augmenting their sound and live performance.

Word of Psydoll spreads worldwide and they start gigging outside of Japan.

REVIEW

It's baffling and exhilarating at the same time: a great rush of noise that's clearly related to ye olde rock music in some tangential way, but doesn't feel particularly bothered about following the rules.
It's punk rock put through a manga blender.
-Uncle Nemesis- "StarVox"

Although the heavy sci-fi anime image the band conveys in their performance stills and design concepts indicates a lot of electronic influences, Psydoll's idea of futurism expands far beyond those tired notions, bringing us something more layered and cleansing, like something you might hear in a Japanese rendition of the film Dune.
-Meghann- "Seventh-circle"

In actuality, Psydoll is a talented group of Tokyo-ites creating nightmarish, cyberpunk music with gothic and industrial influences. The sound is not easy to describe, but they could be described as a kinder, gentler Nine Inch Nails or Marilyn Manson.
-Aaron Dawe ( Protoculture )

Throughout both records, they carry themselves well, providing more than enough new ideas and dalliances with depth and expectation for anyone to take them seriously.
Theyfre serious contenders if you like your Pop and Goth mixed together with the electro content simply there to serve the big idea, and their melodies will easily win you over.
-Mick Mercer (The Mick #16)- ( Dial 'M' for Mercer )

And so it begins ... Crunching, crashing electronica of the heavy metal kind: The sound track to many a late-night manga marathon. This J-Pop for the Nine Inch Nails generation.
